Banners, guitars, mandolins, accordions and tambourines; Capes with colorful ribbons, music, dancing and a lot of joy were part of the celebration for the 60 years of the tunería in San Luis Potosí.

This Saturday, a colorful and cheerful alleyway took place in the Historic Center, along the so-called Paseo Esmeralda, from the Hidalgo Market to the Sanctuary of Guadalupe.

At five in the afternoon the banners with the names of Tuna Femenil Universitaria Potosina; Estudiantetina Potosina San Luis Rey; Tuna Tunera San Luis Potosí; Tuna Potosina Huasteca Real; and Estudiantentina Magisterial Potosina, rose and began to wave in the vicinity of the Hidalgo Market to begin the tour.

Throughout this, more female students joined, regardless of age, those who encountered the happy singers on their way were infected with that joy; A 10-year-old girl danced happily with her grandmother, while the impromptu audience accompanied her with applause.

There were many stops they made along the way, where they encouraged people to dance with the positive response from many, those who didn’t didn’t stop taking advantage of the opportunity to save the moment on video.

The repertoire was as wide as the people who applauded them and shared with the members of the student girls, who sang and danced throughout the Hidalgo passage, the Plaza de Armas, the Zaragoza passage, Jardín Colón and the Calzada de Guadalupe, until reach the Sanctuary.

There, in an interview with El Sol de San Luis, the members of the Tuna Femenil Universitaria Potosina said they had been founded since April 2002, “we are around 10 permanent members, they fluctuate but in general there are 10 of us who come today to participate in this alley to commemorate the 60 years of tuning in San Luis Potosí, of which we have been around for 21.”

They considered that the importance of rescuing this tradition lies in the fact that through it they can help young people, “especially girls, it helps them to have greater independence, to be more outgoing, even on a professional level by losing fear.” from being on a forum or in a job interview; It gives them tools to face difficult situations, in addition to having fun, traveling, meeting people, it is truly a life experience.”

For their part, the members of the Tuna Colonial Potosina, made up of eight members originally from the San Sebastián neighborhood, said they have been grouped since 1994.

They assured that now the important thing is that the groups continue participating and at the same time invite more people, “that it becomes a tourist event, because in the end this reaches a national level and this would help later to be able to organize a great event ”.
