The University of Buenos Aires (UBA) delivered more than 360,000 hot meals to “those who need it most.” There were more than 35,000 volunteers, including students and alumni from the different faculties, who helped on the tours to make this solidarity action possible.

According to a statement from the House of Higher Studies, the volunteering baptized under the name of “Hot Dish” It emerged four years ago during the pandemic in order to help “people in need.” This is how from the first tour, Every Thursday the volunteers go out to distribute hot plates of food for those summoned by the University Federation of Buenos Aires (FUBA).

There were more than 35,000 volunteers, including students and alumni from the different faculties, who helped on the tours.

Food is prepared by 6,000 cooks and nutrition race volunteers, who ensure that the meals meet the nutritional values ​​that each person should consume. Once the dishes are prepared, they are distributed throughout the areas near the faculties.

This activity, which is part of the UBA in Action program, represents for the university the commitment it has to the community.

In this sense, the secretary of university extension of the UBA, Jorge Pasart highlighted: “It is very exciting to see you here again. This began by seeking to provide a contribution to many people, many Argentinian men and women who are homeless. That is also when the public university really comes into its own.”

And continued: “It is the UBA volunteers who are going to bring all these Argentines a plate of food, this is an act of love so I want to congratulate you because I was a volunteer like you and the truth is that the UBA pride shirt fills all of us who are part of this institution with pride. “It makes me really very happy that they continue to keep this flame alive.”

For her part, Lucille Levy, president of FUBA, said: “We have been carrying out this volunteering with a lot of love since the pandemic and I think it never hurts to celebrate that today we turn four years old, not only to distribute a plate of hot food but also to “They are four years of pure pride, of pure commitment.”

“Of pure solidarity in a public university scenario where we effectively understand that they are not only classrooms to go to study but that the public university gives off many more aspects,” he concluded.
