Last week, June 10, National Road Safety Day was commemorated, a more than significant date due to the number of fatal accidents that are recorded daily, and which is usually used to raise awareness in all types of institutions.
From the Directorate of Road Statistics, dependent on the National Directorate of the Road Observatory, they reported that in 2023, some 4,369 people died throughout the country, as a result of traffic accidents.
Corrientes is in the top 10 provinces with the most deaths due to crashes and mistakes. The province occupies ninth place on the unfortunate list, only behind Buenos Aires, Córdoba, Santa Fe, Misiones, Santiago del Estero, Chaco, Tucumán and Salta.

With a total of 159 fatalities in road accidents, Corrientes is part of the group of provinces that registers the highest number of deaths due to this type of events. In that sense, so far this year, some 62 have lost their lives due to road accidents. The information was provided by the Corrientes Police to EL LIBERTADOR.
«The official 2023 statistics reflect that 4,369 people died in 3,642 road accidents throughout the national territory. From this total, it appears that the largest number of deaths were motorcyclists, being 4 out of 10 of the fatalities,” indicates the National Road Safety Agency (Ansv).
Likewise, from the report of the national organization, it is clear that this percentage of deceased motorcyclists increases in the region of Northeast Argentina (NEA), where 59 percent of deaths were people traveling on board motorcycles.
“Secondly, the type of user with the most victims were those who traveled by car, 25 percent, followed by pedestrians, 10 percent,” he points out.
Another piece of information that emerges from the crude report is that the majority of those who died last year, in traffic accidents, were men; 75 percent.
Finally, regarding the age range of the deceased, 38 percent of the total were young people, between 15 and 34 years old.
