During the night of this Saturday, the Aguas del Valle health company reported that, due to the high turbidity in the Elqui River, a product of the lowering of the streams after the rains of the last few daysdecided to reduce productive capacity, through supply cuts that remain in various sectors of La Serena and Coquimbo.

Given this situation, the company’s regional deputy manager, Alejandro Salazar, stated that “our backup systems allowed us to sustain the demand for drinking water for several hours, but the turbidity has persisted, which has forced us to these force majeure cuts given the imbalance of the system. “We are on the ground carrying out various operational maneuvers that allow us to stabilize the system.”

“We continue on the ground monitoring the evolution of the river and we remain in coordination with the authorities. We will have cistern trucks that will travel through the affected sectors, we are installing stationary ponds and hydropack support for health facilities so that they can function normally,” he added.

In this way, it was reported that the affected sectors in La Serena are La Antena, La Florida, Barrio Universitario, Colina El Pino, Raúl Bitrán, La Arboleda, Guillermo Ulriksen, Cerro Grande, El Milagro 1 and 2, La Serena Oriente and San Joaquín.

Meanwhile, the affected sectors in Coquimbo correspond to El Agrado de Peñuelas, El Santuario, Miramar, Marbella, Av. Los Lagos, Sector Santa Mónica, Barrio Industrial, Tierras Blancas to General Óscar Bonilla, El Jockey, Parte Alta Coquimbo, Av. Del Mar from Florencio Sánchez in the north to Av. La Cantera to the south, El Rosario de Peñuelas, Cantera Alta, Cantera Baja, San Juan, Sindempart, Punta Mira Norte and Punta Mira Sur..

The health company asked customers in sectors not affected by these cuts, make rational and supportive use of the resourceavoiding actions such as washing cars and clothes, or watering gardens, in order to contribute to the stabilization of the system.
