The Mayor’s Office of Ibagué issued decree 0456 of 2024 in which the prohibitions are announced within the framework of the activities of the 50th version of the Folk Festival to be held until July 1st.

“We have prohibited the sale and use of foams, flour, vuvuzelas during the parades of June 23 and 30, the reason why this measure is applied because it is an example of a lack of citizen culturealso because we want families to be able to leave with complete peace of mind,” said the Secretary of the Government of Ibagué, Edward Amaya.

Likewise, Amaya maintained that “We want to avoid intolerance problems due to the consumption of alcoholic beverages.put all the elements together in the same event and it can cause some type of fight and inconvenience that we want to avoid.”

Furthermore, he mentioned that A person who goes to the parade armed risks having it confiscated or that a summons from the National Police Code is imposed on him and he ends up not taking public office.

“We cannot prevent a person from being intolerant by decree, By decree we cannot teach him something that he was not taught at home.“What the decrees try to do is set limits,” he clarified.

These are the restrictions established by the Government Secretariat for the parades of the Colombian Folk Festival.

-The sale of beverages and food in motor vehicles.

-Parking of vehicles in front garden areas and platforms.

-The sale and use of flour, foams, vuvuzelas and gunpowder in public spaces.

-The use of sound amplification equipment during caravans and parades.

-The presence of street vendors with wheelbarrows, motorcycles or human or animal-powered vehicles during the parades.

-The sale of alcoholic beverages and cigarettes by minors.

Likewise, it was reported that public service connections that are not authorized by the providing companies cannot be installed and that single-use disposables are not used.
