The department of Córdoba, founded on June 18, 1952, celebrates 72 years, a town that has built its own history, culture and identity in which the present generations must become aware; love it, care for it and encourage its progress.

Let this be the occasion to reflect on the present of our department, which, in the midst of adversity, managed to enhance its capacity for resilience and overcome the complexities and turbulence of a constantly changing context, which has managed to overcome with tenacity, many vicissitudes to become a geographical, prosperous and futuristic place. Let this name day moment be an opportunity to think about what has been the past and present of a town built with the drive of its people and the challenges of rebuilding a territory, which closes social gaps with equity and social progress. Where occupation and concern are represented in human dignity.

It could be stated, without any ambiguity of any kind, that Córdoba has biodiverse, pluricultural and strategic natural wealth for the development and competitiveness of a region represented in its subregions such as: the coastal region, called by its inhabitants the “Cordoban Caribbean”, which today It has 124 kilometers of coastline on the Caribbean Sea and potential for tourism, fishing and port development. The south of Córdoba, a subregion that has 60% of the tropical humid forests, such as the Paramillo National Natural Park, where the rivers originate: San Jorge, Sinú, Manso, Esmeralda and Verde, considered a river star and water factory that supplies most of the municipalities of the Department; Likewise, a mineral-energy wealth. The lower and middle Sinú; The Sabanera subregion and the capital city of Montería show the economic, cultural and social potential that the department of Córdoba represents.

It is paradoxical that Córdoba, with extensive comparative advantages provided by nature, its levels of productivity and competitiveness are low and the majority of its population is immersed in poverty; especially, young people; those who have not been able to access higher education as a means of social mobility. According to the diagnosis of the Córdoba 2052 Agenda, the department has a population under 15 years of age older than other regions of the country, but its strengthening will depend on opportunities to dignify their lives; consequently, to improve economic and competitive productivity. We need to deepen the academic training of the young people who represent the present of the Department.

In this sense, the Córdoba 2052 Agenda is the department’s commitment to social and human transformation, which aims to recognize and enhance comparative advantages in five major productive challenges identified as follows: meat cluster, agribusiness, tourism, mining-energy and technologies. . In this order of ideas, the diagnosis presented allows the prospective agenda to be built in a participatory manner; prioritizing strategic sectors, financial resources, approaches and development logic that drive the social and human progress of the territory. It is important to highlight the leadership of the governor of Córdoba; representative of a young generation that has undertaken this visionary and modern commitment to development, with an inclusive criterion of the actors of the territory; in particular, the academy.

Unicórdoba reaffirms its commitment and makes its science, knowledge and knowledge available to make the Córdoba 2052 Agenda possible. As our anthem invokes…people who do not fight have no future.
