The British singer, former member of the legendary band The Beatles, Paul McCartney, confirmed a few days ago that he will return to Chile on October 11, within the framework of his “Got Back” tour, also performing for the first time at the Monumental Stadium, something that could complicate Colo Colo’s home field in the Copa Libertadores.

Paul McCartney, who has performed three times before at the National Stadium – in 1993, 2011 and 2019 -, he will not be able to repeat that scenario since the Ñuñoa sports venue is reserved for the Chilean Soccer Team’s match against its Brazilian counterpart for the 2026 United States World Cup qualifiers, a match that will be played on October 10.

For the same reason, Sir Paul had to move his concert to the Monumental Stadium, the only venue that has a capacity that is close to that of the National and that will house all the fans of the former bassist of The Beatles.

How could Paul McCartney complicate Colo Colo?

The problem is in the possible damages that would cause Paul McCartney’s concert on the grass of the Monumental Stadium, which has already been affected this year by other presentations in the place.

And although the British’s concert will be on October 11 at the Pedrero venue, there will be few days to recover the grass in view of the chief’s football commitments, and that could complicate things for the albos if they advance in the Copa Libertadores, since that if they reach the semifinals of the international tournament, they should play at home on that same field during the week of October 23.

However, the president of Colo Colo himself, Aníbal Mosa, put a cold shoulder to the situation. during a conversation with Dale Albo, to whom he indicated that “We have a contract signed with DG Medios for ten concerts, so we have to ask for not only financial but also operational guarantees. What are they going to take care of our grass for? We are going to create a plateau where the control tower and the stage can be, because what suffered problems were the areas where the yales circulated and the equipment for setting up. What half of the field was, was impeccable.”
