This Thursday, the Provincial Energy Entity of Neuquén (EPEN) began the beacon works of the Landing track from Zapala airport. This work depends on the Ministry of Infrastructure and has an investment of 32.4 million pesos.

The tasks belong to a provincial project that aims to improve the airports in the interior of Neuquén in terms of buildings and existing infrastructure. This plan began at the Chos Malal airfield.

The first tasks consist of laying 800 meters of low voltage linewhich will follow the route of the medium voltage line that reaches Villa Puente Picún Leufú.

The next step is set up a transformer substation to power the new system of 11 beacons with their control panels and the placement of the posts with authorization from Provincial Highways on the side of National Route 40. In addition, the arrival of the new lights is expected from Buenos Aires next week.

The new system will replace the existing one, which consists of 10 beacons powered by a photovoltaic installation. The change was necessary after detachment of solar panels due to the wind, according to Neuquén Informa. Additionally, the batteries and electronic systems deteriorated over time.
