In a joint operation between the Anti-Smuggling Group of the Government of Córdoba and the Highway Police, An illegal shipment of 2,000 packs of cigarettes from Brazil was intercepted in the municipality of Planeta Rica. This action represents a new blow against illegal smuggling practices in the department.

According to the Secretary of the Treasury, Alejandro Espinosa, The efforts to combat smuggling have intensified during the Livestock Fair season, with the aim of safeguarding the health of the people of Córdoba and protecting the tax revenues of the department.

Espinosa highlighted the importance of these operations in the main road corridors, since the resources obtained from income and taxes are allocated to infrastructure and social development projects that benefit all the inhabitants of Córdoba.

In addition to the operations, the Government has implemented a campaign called “Legally, Córdoba has it all!” in order to raise awareness among citizens about the harms of smuggling and promote the consumption of legal products.

The official emphasized that during the Livestock Fair control actions have been reinforced in the main scenarios, with the aim of preventing crimes such as smuggling and trafficking of adulterated liquor, which seriously affect departmental finances.

This new seizure of illegal cigarettes adds to the continuous efforts of the Córdoba authorities to combat illicit illegal trade practices, which not only generate a negative economic impact, but also represent a risk to public health.
