Yesterday, Moniquirá made the most important announcements for higher education in Boyacá that have been made in recent times.

“Boyacá has always been and will continue to be a power of education!” said Governor Carlos Amaya yesterday at an event held in Moniquirá and where he was accompanied, among others, by the Vice Minister of Higher Education, Alejandro Álvarez Gallego; the rector of the Pedagogical and Technological University of Colombia (UPTC), Enrique Vera López.

The three signed an educational memorandum of understanding to make the UPTC headquarters a reality for the provinces of Lengupá and Ricaurte, as well as for the expansion of that university’s facilities in Puerto Boyacá.

They did it on the lot of the old Licorera de Boyacá, which the leader of the Boyacá people assured, recovered in his first Government and will now be the setting in which the UPTC headquarters will be built in Moniquirá.

The president took the opportunity to send a message of gratitude to President Gustavo Petro and Minister Aurora Vergara, along with his Vice Minister of Higher Education, for promoting the purpose of continuing to put education at the top of the goals for the regions.

And Amaya Rodríguez also celebrated that the Ministry of Education allocated 54,000 million pesos to the UPTC headquarters in Chiquinquirá, which she described as a historic investment that will go hand in hand with the productive vocation of the region.

Likewise, he announced from the so-called Sweet City of Boyacá, that 12,000 million pesos more will be allocated for the completion and provision of the engineering building in Tunja, which is added to the 22,000 million pesos in royalties invested by the government of Ramiro Barragán, and as if all that were not enough, they will add resources for the completion of the Soatá headquarters and the strengthening of the Sogamoso and Duitama headquarters.

“The teamwork between the government of Boyacá and the National government will allow a historic boost for education in the department and as part of this commitment today ‘Generación Futuro’ is born, a visionary strategy that seeks to establish the policies and guidelines to provide the educational sector in Boyacá with quality and equitable access,” said the governor.

And he added that this will be a joint work between the national and Boyacá governments, as well as the mayors’ offices to bring modern infrastructure, quality provision, internet access and decent basic services for the boys, girls and young people of Boyacá, with a single purpose. : that they find in the classrooms the opportunity to turn their dreams into reality.

In total, resources in the order of 207,000 million pesos were allocated with the memorandum of understanding for the regionalization of higher education, through the construction of university headquarters in the department of Boyacá.

The items will be distributed as follows:

Resources from the Government to the UPTC

1. Puerto Boyacá: $15,000 million, executed.

2. Soatá: $12,000 million, executed.

3. Tunja: $34,000 million, executed with the laboratory and engineering building.

4. Duitama: $5,000 million.

5. Sogamoso: $5,000 million in expansion of the auditorium and adaptation of existing infrastructure.

6. Chiquinquirá: $2,000 million in studies and designs and construction of new headquarters.

7. Hybrid classrooms: $16 billion in endowment.

9. Miraflores: $22.00 million – Headquarters construction (studies, designs and work).

“United we are going to work for the ‘Future Generation’, the one that today seeks its future and whom we will no longer see behind us, but alongside us, who deserves all our effort, dedication and the best of us,” said the governor. Carlos Amaya.

With this project, 16 new educational campuses will be built, 240 rural campuses will be improved, 254 educational institutions will be equipped, three new university campuses will be built, internet will be delivered to benefit more than 90,000 students and will reach all the provinces in the region.
