The Army reported that, on the morning of this Sunday, June 16, troops of the institution were attacked in the municipality of Silvia, Cauca. The armed actions are attributed to the self-proclaimed Central General Staff (EMC), also known as the dissidents of alias Iván Mordisco.

In addition, military sources clarified that a video was circulating on social networks about alleged clashes between FARC dissidents and the Army. The video in question corresponded to harassment in the municipality of Silvia.

“Information is circulating through open networks about an alleged confrontation between armed groups outside the Law, to which it is clear that said event did not occur. What occurred was harassment without damage around 6:30 a.m. to a platoon that was carrying out stability tasks in the north of the municipality of Silvia, Cauca,” military sources said.

Since last March 17, the north of Cauca and the south of Valle del Cauca have experienced a wave of violence on behalf of the FARC dissidents. At that time, the Government lifted the ceasefire with that criminal organization after the EMC’s failure to carry out armed actions. This while Gustavo Petro’s administration was carrying out peace negotiations with the outlaw structure.
