Despite the drought and lack of rain in the city of San Luis Potosi this 2024, the Interapas reported that they have received and attended to reports for 45 collapsed drains in the metropolitan area of the state, including the La Pila, Bocas and Villa de Pozos delegations.
Interapas authorities explained that most of the collapseswhich caused the black water spread on the streets, they appeared in neighborhoods such as: Bolívar, Jardines del Estadio, Progreso, Jardines de Oriente, Tequisquipan, División del Norte, Saucito, Industrias, El Paseo, Villa Jardín, San Juan de Guadalupe, La Piedras, Popular, Industrial Mexicana, Juárez, Bureaucrata, Los Silos and Rural Atlas, among others from the municipalities of San Luis Potosí and Soledad de Graciano Sánchez.
Due to citizen reports and the attention of the Agency’s inspection teams, damage to the health of girls, boys, adolescents and older adults was avoided, since the sewer water contains human and animal waste that can be harmful to health.
From January to June, that is, in six months, the Interapas replaced more than two thousand 800 linear meters of sanitary pipes, in some cases caused by the natural deterioration of materials, accumulation of solid garbage and in some others due to vandalism by citizens who can steal the PVC pipes to sell them or cause damage to the residents of Potosí.
Collapses are currently being attended to, which have even opened the asphalt layer in neighborhoods such as: Bella Vista, Los Reyes, División del Norte and Simón Díaz.
To avoid collapses, the municipal authority called on citizens to report collapses for timely attention, but also to keep the areas clean. sewers of garbage, to avoid breakdowns as much as possible, as well as to notify the security authorities if acts of vandalism are detected.
