On a farm located in the Barbacoas district, rural area of Riohacha, a three-month-old baby died after being hit by a gunshot.
It was established that the little girl was in a neighboring property, where a subject in an apparent state of rage was chasing a chicken to kill it by shooting.
One of these projectiles hit the infant, leaving her dead immediately.
Officials from the Police Sijín were present at the scene of the events, and they took the small lifeless body to the Forensic Medicine facilities.
Given this fact, the mayor of Riohacha, Genaro Redondo Choles, spoke in X.
“How sad as a father and on a day like today, to receive this news. I deeply regret the tragic death of a 3-month-old girl in the town of Barbacoas. To her parents, my complete solidarity. As a society we must reconsider the way we behave. It is unacceptable that these acts of intolerance end the lives of innocent beings. “We cannot continue like this!” said the president.
He also called on the authorities to clarify the facts and for the person responsible to be identified and prosecuted. “The pain of an entire city demands results as soon as possible,” the mayor said.
