Fecode announces great mobilization in Bogotá against the education reform

The largest teachers union in the country called for a mobilization tomorrow in Bogotá. This is a new protest against the statutory bill that reforms the country’s educational system and that has led teachers to go on strike since last June 10.

Fecode had already carried out a nationwide mobilization on June 12, in different parts of the country. This Monday, under the name “Great Taking of Bogotá,” the teachers announce that they will march and remain in “resistance until the Senate plenary session ends.”

The concentration points are four: at the Manuela Beltrán School in the north, at the National University in the west, at the Enrique Olaya Herrera school in the east, and at the Sena in the south.

Why are teachers protesting? Because they are against the text approved in the First Committee of the Senate on June 5, because it changed parts of the initial spirit of the project presented by the government and they say that it promotes the privatization of education.

However, some points that teachers have protested do not really coincide with the text approved in the Senate and are based on some misinformation, as we tell in this story.
