It is normal to see construction companies in the city that hire personnel who are not native to La Guajira. Currently, the expansion of the Palace of Justice, the construction of the La Guajira regional attorney general’s office, the ICA office and paving on 40th Street are being built, thereby violating agreement 004 of 2019 issued by the Council of Riohacha.

The commission was at the construction site last Thursday talking with officials from the Consorcio Almirante Padilla firm, determining that the construction company brought eight people from Barranquilla and two more from Bogotá as qualified hands. “They brought a surveyor, a forklift driver and assistants from the country’s capital and others from the Atlantic capital“, indicated Rafael Alberto Dykhoff Serrano.
Councilor Hernán Rebolledo indicated that he later learned of the situation and began to follow up on the execution of the work of the Attorney General’s Office, which is located on 15th Street and 15th Street, under the signature of Consorcio Almirante Padilla, “because our goal is for companies to understand that they must hire our staff who live here, what they earn they invest here and so from the Council we contribute so that our residents can work with dignity.“, said.
“To date we are in dialogue with officials of the Almirante Padilla Consortium in order to guarantee the community job opportunities and the strengthening of our economy, whose work is projected for three years. In Riohacha there are people trained to work, in our projects the priority must be the Riohacheros and from the council we will protect this right”, pointed out lobbyist Rebolledo.
This week the Secretary of Government has proposed a meeting in his office with the directors of the consortium and what is sought is for the foreigners to be replaced by labor from people who reside in the capital of La Guajira.
