They need to collect 5 thousand signatures or more until the end of the month.

On May 22, the first regional #SignforLife campaign began, an initiative that invites the community to join together to collect 5,000 or more digital signatures that support the request for the installation of a Transitory Cancer Center in Aysén.

The corporation founded on May 17, 2024, is non-profit and aims to bring together cancer patients, along with a network of family and friends who have come together to work to improve the conditions of oncological treatment in the Region of Aysen.

So far it has collected around 3,300 signatures for this cause. This was what the vice president of Onco Aysén, Valeria Galaz, told Diario Regional Aysén.

“This is our first campaign, #FirmaporlaVida, at this moment we have 3,322, we need to gather them between now and the end of the month to make the minutes, present the project and have it carried out here in the region,” indicated the vice president of Onco Aysen.

Better attention

Galaz said that the Cancer Center of the Regional Hospital has a very small space, so they need more rooms so that people with cancer have better care.

For her part, the president of Onco Aysén, Patricia Aburto, pointed out that they seek to demonstrate to the authorities that the community has the same level of awareness of the need to prioritize the treatment of this disease. “That is why the name #FirmaporlaVida. Without health as a priority, nothing else in life is useful to us,” she expressed.

Valeria mentioned that after collecting the signatures, a request will be submitted to both the regional and national authorities, who must give authorization. “We have to have an interview with the governor and then see what step to follow,” she concluded.
