The Santa Cruz team beat Chuquisaca 2-1 in the final to take the title of the men’s futsal tournament that came to an end on Saturday

Santa Cruz was proclaimed champion of the XXXI National Men’s Under-20 Departmental Team Futsal Tournament that ended on Saturday in Trinidad, Beni.

Eight teams were part of the contest that started on Wednesday at the Cancha Vieja Coliseum.

Two groups of four were divided. In A were the host Beni, Pando, Chuquisaca and Cochabamba. In B they played Santa Cruz, Tarija, La Paz and Potosí.

The competition mode was round-robin, of which the first two advanced to the semifinals and then the final.

Towards the title

The Santa Cruz team did not have the expected start because they lost their debut against Potosí (3-2), but then defeated La Paz (8-0) and Tarija (5-2).

With this performance, Santa Cruz took second place in its series by finishing with 6 points, only behind Potosí (7). In third place was Tarija (4) and La Paz was last (0).

The winner of Group A was Beni (7), followed by Chuquisaca (6), Pando (4) and Cochabamba (0).

In the semifinal round, Santa Cruz eliminated the local Beni (7-2), while Chuquisaca beat Potosí (4-1).

The definition of third place was on penalties, as the match ended tied 2-2. The Potosinos won 5-4 over Beni.

The grand final was very even between Santa Cruz and Chuquisaqueños. The difference was a single goal in favor of Santa Cruz (2-1).
