Jon Rahm and David Puig will represent Spain in the golf tournament at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, with the aim of achieving a medal at Le Golf National from August 1 to 4. Rahm, currently ninth in the world according to the World Ranking, secured his participation thanks to his consistency and success in international competitions. For his part, David Puig, competing in LIV Golf, won his place by meeting the necessary requirements, including making the cut at the US Open, a crucial event for Olympic qualification.

Jon Rahm, 29, has dominated the World Ranking charts since his professional debut in July 2016. With eight victories on the European Tour and notable victories in two majors, the US Open 2021 and The Masters 2023, Rahm has established himself as a prominent figure in world golf. His contribution to Europe’s Ryder Cup victories in 2018 and 2023 further underlines his impact on the sport.

In contrast, David Puig, 22, has emerged strongly since his entry into professional golf in 2022. Despite the difficulties involved in competing on the LIV Golf circuit, where events do not add points for the World Ranking, Puig has accumulated successes on the Asian Tour, including his recent victory at the Malaysian Open 2024.

The Royal Spanish Golf Federation has confirmed that Jorge Campillo, Nacho Elvira, Adrián Otaegui and Pablo Larrazábal are ready as substitutes in case Rahm or Puig are unable to compete in Paris. Meanwhile, the announcement of the Spanish women’s team is expected after the end of the qualification period on June 25.
