Customs, through a control, checked the hold of a long-distance bus and found 6.5 of cocaine that were hidden inside a speaker and a stove.
Specialized agents from the General Directorate of Customs-AFIP discovered 6.5 kg of cocaine in a long-distance bus in Salta. The vehicle, which was traveling from the northern border of Argentina, had cargo in the warehouse. Given this, Customs personnel scanned the packages.
The X-ray equipment returned suspicious images regarding two parcels, since rectangular packages were visible inside a speaker and an electric stove.
The scanner indicated that the packages had a density compatible with an organic substance, so K9 personnel were summoned.
Customs detected that the packages showed compatibility with narcotics and informed the Justice Department. After the opening of the packages was authorized, the presence of 6 bricks of cocaine was found, with a total weight of 6,548 kilograms. The estimated value of the drugs amounts to $82,800,000.
Likewise, the Federal Court of Guarantees of Salta and the Federal Prosecutor’s Office for Complex Crimes intervened.
With Customs authorization, together with the Argentine National Gendarmerie (GNA), they carried out the supervised delivery of the parcels and the woman who was carrying the merchandise was detained.
