The Mayor’s Office of Manizales, through the ICT and Competitiveness Secretariat and in collaboration with People Contact, has announced the expansion of its network of free Wi-Fi zones. From now on, citizens can enjoy high-quality internet connection in two new locations: the CAI de la Enea Park and the San José Park. With the additions, Manizales has a total of 15 free Wi-Fi zones distributed throughout the city.

The 15 Wi-Fi zones are operational with Internet connection. dedicated fiber optic which guarantees optimal performance for a large number of users. The areas are constantly monitored using management and control tools to ensure the quality of service. According to the latest data, 48.65% of users are young people between 16 and 28 years old, and 26.22% are adults between 29 and 40 years old. In terms of education, 53.29% of users have a high school degree and 17.14% are technicians.

Regarding socioeconomic stratification, 65.45% of users belong to strata 1 and 2, while 26.14% are in stratum 3. The distribution by gender indicates that 62% of users are men, 36.48 % are women and 1.53% identify with other genders, which reflects a commitment to inclusion.

“On average monthly, about 30,000 Manizaleños connect for free in our Wi-Fi zones,” explained the Secretary of ICT and Competitiveness, Santiago Giraldo Llano.

The use of the Wi-Fi network is distributed between study activities (34.68%), work (34.61%) and entertainment (30.71%), which demonstrates the importance of the service in various areas of the daily life of Manizaleños.
