More than fifty officials from the Ministry of Labor declared a permanent strike, supporting the protest of hundreds of workers from other parts of the country, denouncing the lack of labor guarantees.

In Norte de Santander, on the outskirts of the Ministry’s facilities, they have been stationed to carry out pot-banging and other activities in support of a large number of workers in the rest of the country who have been reporting violations.

Paulina Salazar Mena, president of Sinaltraempro, told Caracol Radio that “all offices are completely closed, but we are aware that the minister has called through her territorial directors to work outside the facilities when in times of pandemic they did not allow us to work remotely.”

He also revealed that they have found that the ministry is offering more jobs to cover the people who are protesting.

I conclude that they are the labor inspectors who ensure compliance with labor standards in all private companies, the entire private sector is monitored by the ministry, in jobs such as warehouses, authorizations for dismissal of the disabled, they review overtime, hearings of conciliation and other procedures that remain suspended.
