In the midst of the euphoria for the first star of the Atlético Bucaramanga team at the Américo Montanini stadium, with the excitement of the fans as support and the need to have a better stage for the Colombian professional soccer champion team because the Copa Libertadores is coming, The ‘leopard’ coach, Rafael Dudamel, asked for a new stadium.

The request came when the Venezuelan coach climbed onto the stage in the middle of the playing field and in front of the fans, which also included the mayor of Bucaramanga, Jaime Andrés Beltrán Martínez, and the director of the Santander Sports Institute ( Indersantander), Ariel Fernando Rojas Rodríguez.

“I want to take advantage, since you said the word build (Mayor of Bucaramanga), so that in front of all our people, the entire city, you acquire the commitment to deliver Ciudad Bonita, the fifth best city in the country and where it plays the champion team, that Bucaramanga is going to have a new stadium,” Dudamel requested.

The stadium is not in charge of the Bucaramanga Mayor’s Office. However, the local leader invited the Government of Santander to join and proposed a ‘cow’. “I want to invite the Government, the metropolitan mayors to create a fund, because Bucaramanga deserves a new stadium,” said Beltrán.

In this regard, the director of Indersantander, Ariel Fernando Rojas Rodríguez, stated that Governor Juvenal Díaz Mateus and Professor Dudamel met in Bogotá. At the meeting the coach made some suggestions about improving the stadium, among which are the change of the grass

“We would like to have a stadium with all the technique and technology. Since 2017 and 2018 there has been a proposal and we found some designs that seek to increase the capacity, put a roof on it, perhaps build the high eastern stand and the issue of grass. This is an issue that will be evaluated,” said the official.

Rojas Rodríguez indicated that at this time the stadium needs maintenance, adjustments to the enclosure, repairs to chairs, sealing some water leaks, adapting dressing rooms, broadcast booths, among other works, which must be ready for the continental tournament in which they will participate. the ‘leopard’ team in 2025.

“The difficulty of building a new stadium is the issue of resources. We don’t know how much new infrastructure can cost. We have reference that a Public-Private Alliance was presented with a company from Bogotá and the investment was valued at $2.2 billion, that is crazy,” said the Director of Indersantander.
