Throughout the three days of the weekend, 802 thousand people traveled and spent $81,464 million on food, drinks, accommodation, transportation, recreation and various purchases.
Compared to the previous year, the number of travelers was significantly lower, with a decrease of 64.3%. This decrease is largely due to the fact that last year the weekend had four days and did not coincide with another long holiday, as will happen between next Thursday, June 20 and Sunday, June 23.
The average daily expenditure per tourist was $50,788, 3.4% less than on the same date in 2023, adjusted to real prices. The average stay was two days, which is also below the typical three-day long weekend, which is typically between 2.2 and 2.5 days.
Varied weather influenced travel decisions
While places such as the Atlantic Coast and the NOA region enjoyed pleasant temperatures, threats of rain and storms in provinces such as Entre Ríos and Corrientes generated uncertainty.
To date, the year has seen three long weekends, with a total of 6.6 million people mobilized and an expenditure of $1,065,990 million (US$1,169 million in the official BNA dollar).
However, a factor that reduced the dynamism of the weekend’s movement was the drop in international tourism, which, although still present, is not observed in the magnitudes of previous months.
Situation in Entre Ríos
Entre Ríos did not have a good weekend due to forecasts of possible storms.
Hotel occupancy reached 40%, with better figures in locations such as Santa Ana (80%), María Grande (70%), Basavilbaso (70%), Villaguay (50%) and Concepción del Uruguay (50%), the latter benefited by the TC Pista event at the local racetrack.
The economic crisis, the Father’s Day celebration and the rain forecasts contributed to the drop in occupancy.
Despite this, the province maintains good expectations for the next extra-long weekend.
The thermal complexes, which are generally full this season, worked with occupancy levels of between 50% and 60%.
