After more than five hours of negotiations at the headquarters of National Renewal in Providencia, the Chile Vamos parties reached a momentous agreement for the upcoming municipal and gubernatorial elections. With practically defined candidates, they stand out Tomás Fuentes for Santiago; María José Hoffmann for Valparaíso; and Sergio Giacaman for Bio Bio. Los Ríos, however, will be defined next week.
During the afternoon of this Friday, the Chile Vamos parties managed to agree on 283 unique candidates that will compete in the October municipal electionsThis achievement marks the beginning of a new stage in which the coalition will negotiate with the opposition parties to the Government.
Javier Macayapresident of the UDI, expressed his satisfaction with the agreement reached.
“Our goal is clear: to end bad left-wing governments. This list represents a great step and a great agreement within our coalition. Now, in this second stage, we are going to continue articulating and working with all the parties that are in opposition to the Government to be able to arrive with a single candidate in October and thus restore hope and security to Chileans“, said Macaya.
For her part, the president of Evopoli, Gloria Hutthighlighted the effort and dedication invested in this process.
“We are very satisfied with this agreement.and to be able to present to the country the best candidates to lead local governments throughout the country. We have worked hard on a list of representative people with knowledge of each of the communes,” he said.
Hutt stressed the importance of this new stage of negotiations. “There is now another stage, equally important, which is to reach agreements with the other parties of the broad spectrum of the opposition, in search of unity, to complete this picture at a national level with the best in each commune,” he said.
Rodrigo Galileapresident of Renovación Nacional, also celebrated the progress achieved.
“Today Chile Vamos has completed a very important first step. We have agreed on more than 283 candidates for the different municipalities and governorships of the country. From this moment on, not only can all these candidates be deployed, but also We will move on to a second stage: articulating unique candidacies with all those parties that will allow us to form a broad opposition,” he said.
Galilea called for unity and putting aside differences in pursuit of a common goal. “Just as we have made an effort among all the parties of Chile Vamos, to put aside legitimate pretensions and reach agreements, We call on all other parties to make the same effort and achieve unique candidacies.“, he reiterated.
According to Chile Vamos, this instance not only strengthens them in the face of the elections, but would also mark a milestone in Chilean politics by showing the capacity for dialogue and consensus between parties of the same coalition.
