This Monday ended the first of the two long weekends in June and left a balance of 802 thousand touristsa 64.3% less than last yearaccording to a survey carried out by the Argentine Confederation of Medium Enterprises (CAME). However, they pointed out that this drop can be attributed in part to the fact that in 2023 the long weekend was four days instead of three. It still remains to be seen what the movement will be like next week, which will have a four-day break.

The report made by CAME specified that tourists spent a total of 81,464 million pesos in fooddrinks, accommodation, transportation, recreation and various purchases.

In this regard, they detailed that tourists spent on average $50,788 daily and pointed out that there was also a sharp drop compared to last year’s expenses: 3.4% less than on the same date in 2023 (at real prices) and had a average stay of 2 dayswhich was also lower than what is typical for a 3-day weekend (usually between 2.2 and 2.5).

The weather was uneven in different parts of the country, with very good temperatures in places such as the Atlantic Coast or the NOA region, and threats of rain and storms in others such as Entre Ríos or Corrientes that made them doubt whether to travel or not.

So far this year there were 3 long weekends, where they moved 6.6 million people and disbursed $1,065,990 million (US$1,169 million in the official BNA dollar).

According to CAME, “a factor that reduced the dynamism of the weekend movement was the drop in international tourismwhich, although still latent, “It is not seen in the magnitudes of previous months.”
