A Government delegation will soon travel to Amazonas to rule on the case of rape against boys and girls in indigenous communities
Representatives of various indigenous communities of Amazonas They met yesterday Ministers of Education, Morgan Queroand of Women, Ángela Hernández, after the controversial statements made previously. These statements, which they described as «cultural practices» to the sexual abuse against schoolchildren in the Amazonian province of Condorcanquigenerated criticism.
During the meeting, both Romer Orregopresident of the Organization of the Aguaruna Council and Huambisaas Raquel Caicatvice president of the Regional Organization of Indigenous Peoplesconfirmed that both ministers apologized for their comments.

“The minister has already apologized to us, it was a mistake, he was wrong, it seems to me that he has been poorly advised (…) He acknowledged the error, and human errors must be recognized”Caicat said.
Orrego added that, although the apologies were accepted, they demanded the presence of the Chief of Staff, Gustavo Adrianzénand all the ministers of State in Condorcanqui to address the serious situation derived from cases of sexual abuse, including the difficulties of access to justice and the high rate of HIV cases.
Visit to Amazonas
On June 28, the visit of the Ministers of Education and Women to Condorcanqui is confirmed to personally apologize to the Awajún community for their statements.

However, much of the documentation of these complaints was lost in the fire at the Condorcanqui UGEL in 2022.
