A 13-year-old girl died allegedly after consuming alcohol during the Father’s Day celebration last weekend in Ibagué (Tolima). Liliana Ospina, Secretary of Health of Ibagué, regretted this fact, reporting that the minor was admitted without vital signs to the San Francisco hospital, accompanied by her father.

“During the initial interrogation, it was concluded that, apparently, in the context of the Father’s Day celebration there was excessive alcohol consumption, which worries this secretariat that a minor has been drinking these drinks,” Ospina said. The official explained that both basic and advanced resuscitation maneuvers were carried out at the hospital, but despite medical efforts, the minor did not survive.

The ICBF and the Childhood and Adolescence Police interviewed the relatives, handling two hypotheses about the cause of death: intoxication due to excessive alcohol consumption, or possible bronchoaspiration, that is, the minor had gone to bed to sleep, had vomited subsequently, causing cardiorespiratory arrest.

The same relatives indicated that the minor consumed alcohol during Sunday’s celebration. Forensic Medicine will be the entity in charge of determining the cause of death. Read: Hitmen murder a lawyer in a barbershop while he was getting a haircut
