Members of the “Simón Bolívar” Training Ship, of the Navy of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, exchanged with teachers and students from educational centers in Santiago de Cuba.

The visit to the institutions named after patriots of the South American nation becomes a tribute to those who gave their lives for social equality and freedom in the countries of the continent, and is also part of the ship’s program in this untamed province, the which extends until today, June 19.

At the Simón Bolívar semi-boarding school, visitors received an explanation about the composition of the institute and, also, tribute was paid to Hugo Rafael Chávez Frías, who was president of the sister nation and the best friend of Cuba, as Commander in Chief Fidel named him. Castro Ruz, historical leader of the Revolution.

Songs, poems and dances dedicated to Venezuela were performed by pioneers, as a sign of the strength of the cultural, social, political and fraternal ties between both peoples.

Leonardo Segovia, Minister Counselor of the Embassy of the Bolivarian Republic in the Antillean nation, expressed gratitude for the welcome offered at the school.

Cuba and Venezuela are the destination of major attacks by North American imperialism and being in this institution today we know the reason why they want to subdue us, but they will not be able to achieve it, he stated.

Captain Ronald José Briseño Huerta, commander of the ship, pointed out that the boys and girls of the “Simón Bolívar” are the future of the country and asserted the commitment to continue the excellent bilateral relations.

The occasion was propitious for the donation of books that narrate the memories of the Battle of Carabobo and part of the past and contemporary history of Venezuela, with the aim of contributing to the comprehensive education of the students.

Then, the delegation also visited the Fabricio Ojeda Primary School, a center that reveres the man who was a journalist, politician and commander of the Venezuelan guerrilla in the sixties of the 20th century.

The ship known as “The Ambassador without Borders” arrives for the fifth time in the land of Santiago, as part of the XXXIV Foreign Instruction Cruise in 2024.
