The neighbors themselves became enthusiastic and, within their possibilities, began to participate“, said.
The mayor indicated that given the size, a special reel was made to be able to roll it up until the following year. “The idea is that it never touches the ground, so the neighbors come to pick it up and carry it high. People of all ages participate, it has become a family activity,” he said.

The weather alert forced the activity to be brought forward
Although the deployment has been carried out on June 20 since 2018, this year it had to be carried out a day earlier due to the weather alert in force in the area. “We had a small window of good weather this Wednesday morning, so we took advantage of it and went out to the street to spread the flag. Adults and children came out of their homes to participate in the activity. In addition, we must bear in mind that we are on the verge of a long weekend, so we wanted to take advantage of the fact that today is a business day and that people had not yet left for a trip,” he said excitedly.
Seeing the great interest that this arouses in the community, a project was sent to the Deliberative Council to be able to declare it of citizen interest. “For us, the way in which the neighbors have made this activity their own is very important, which is why we want to collaborate by helping with materials, labor or whatever is needed,” he explained.

Finally, he said that the flag will be kept on its reel until next year, when pieces will begin to be added to extend its meters. “It is a great joy and pride for us to be able to do these things in the community,” she concluded.
