The Santa Marta Metropolitan Police faces an integrity crisis after the arrest of four of its officers accused of various crimes.
The authorities have identified those involved as Mayor Gabriel Eduardo Ochoa Arias and patrolmen Sammy Joel Palacios Mendoza, Arlinzon Córdoba Palacios and Víctor Alfonzo Acevedo Rodríguez.
According to the investigation, these officials would have carried out an illegal raid on September 9, 2023, without having the corresponding court order, which represents a serious violation of legal procedures and citizen rights.
This act has triggered a series of charges that include embezzlement by use, trademark falsification, violation of another’s room by a public servant, abuse of public office, abuse of authority by omission, aggravated reception, and association for the commission of a crime against the administration public.
In addition, they are accused of entering private property without proper authorization and using their position for personal gain.
