Around 5:30 in the morning this Thursday, four people died after a fatal crash on Route 39, at kilometer 223 near Caseros, 30 kilometers from the Entre Ríos city of Concepción del Uruguay. The accident was between two cars that collided head-on.
In addition, a port official, who was traveling in an official car, is hospitalized in serious condition, but his identity has not yet been officially confirmed.
As for the vehicles involved, it is a Chevrolet Corsa, which was practically unrecognizable, according to the deputy commissioner of the Departmental Police, Martín Tello. The four lifeless bodies were found inside. On the other hand, the driver of the other car, a Volkswagen Passat, who turned out to be a provincial official from that city, is in critical condition and was rushed to the Urquiza Hospital.
Police and fire crews quickly arrived at the scene of the accident to work on the incident, while local authorities carry out investigations to clarify the exact causes of the crash and determine the corresponding responsibilities. At the moment, the four fatal victims have not been identified. Route 39 remains closed while the personnel of the Caseros police station, the highway police and the departmental police of Uruguay carry out the relevant tasks.
Commissioner Martín Tello, deputy chief of the Uruguay Department of the Entre Ríos Police, in communication with La Voz radio, explained: “Four people who were traveling in one of the vehicles died and the driver of the other was transferred in critical condition.”
And he added: “One of the vehicles cannot even be established what class it is, the engine is on the side, the speedometer, too, is unrecognizable. The other would be a Passat. “We are waiting for the Prosecutor, ordering what the traffic is.”
Likewise, Tello confirmed that the fatal victims correspond to one of the vehicles: “We are waiting for the Prosecutor to authorize us to search them to see if they have documents, but we are already checking belongings more or less seeing their identity.” .
