  • • 75 gold medals, 46 silver and 26 bronze, keep Antioquia as leader in the National Final of the Intercollegiate Games.
    • On the last day of competitions in Valledupar, the Antioqueños won three golds in the disciplines of: women’s indoor soccer, men’s volleyball and women’s volleyball.
    • Antioquia maintained its leadership in athletics, winning seven new gold medals in the afternoon of competitions in this discipline, which took place at the Salitre Sports Unit in Bogotá.

The national final of the Intercollegiate Games in the city of Valledupar came to an end this Thursday, June 6, 2024, with exciting matches that highlighted the talent and dedication of the young “orgullo paisa” athletes of Antioquia. At this stage, the department added three new gold medals in the sports of: women’s indoor soccer, men’s volleyball and women’s volleyball and a silver medal in men’s basketball. The general competitions of this national final continue with the disciplines of athletics and chess, in Bogotá until June 9.

In Valledupar, in the youth women’s category of indoor soccer, the representatives of the Jorge Eliecer Gaitán institution from Antioquia were bathed in gold by beating the General Gustavo Rojas Pinilla school from Bogotá, with a final score of 4 to 1. The team Huila completed the podium by winning the bronze medal.

On the other hand, in women’s youth volleyball, the players from the Cibercolegio UCN Educational Institution of Antioquia won first place on the podium by beating their rivals from the San Pedro Claver Institution of Bucaramanga in three sets in a row, at the Julio Monsalvo Castilla Coliseum from Valledupar. The Valley team won the bronze medal.

In the youth men’s volleyball category, the San Ignacio de Loyola school in Antioquia demonstrated its supremacy, at the Julio Monsalvo Castilla Coliseum in Valledupar, by winning the gold medal after beating the Bucaramanga Bicentennial team in Santander with a resounding result of 3 sets by 0. Colegio Santo Domingo Savio del Meta took the bronze medal.

In Bogotá, the Antioquians won the gold medal in nine athletics events, maintaining Antioquia’s leadership in this discipline and demonstrating their commitment, sporting ability and teamwork.

On Friday, June 7, the fifth day of chess and the last day of athletics will be held in Bogotá. The national final of the Intercollegiate Games will end this Sunday, June 9, with competitions in active and blitz chess formats.
