They define where they will send the man who barricaded himself armed in a house in the Güemes neighborhood

In the next few hours, prosecutor Celeste Blasco will decide the fate of the 49-year-old man who, on Wednesday morning, barricaded himself in his house in the Güemes neighborhood, in the capital of Córdoba, and was finally arrested after a raid by members of the Police Eter group. The individual was armed and, according to witnesses, had fired shots at neighbors. There were no injuries.

The man was transferred to Misericordia Hospital, given that he was in an altered state. He was left in custody.

Some versions indicate that he could be accused of possession of unregistered firearms and resistance to authority. In any case, there is no official confirmation for now from the prosecution.

Everything indicates that the man will undergo a series of psychiatric examinations to determine his state of mental health. This will be vital to resolve where he is housed: whether in a psycho-care center or in the warden.

The following were seized from the house: firearms of different calibers, three notebooks, three cell phones, a printer, two tablets, several pen drives and a camera, among other items, the Police reported.

It all started at 9 when the Police were alerted (by calls from neighbors) that a man “had taken hostages” and was firing weapons.

A few minutes later, several cell phones arrived at the address on 500 Bolívar Street.

The neighbor was contacted, but refused to come out. Given the direction the situation was taking, by protocol, the Eter group and the negotiating body were called.

The main police authorities and even the Security portfolio also arrived.

“We made contact with him and were able to establish that he had no hostages, thanks to our snipers. But anyway we didn’t know what was happening in the room,” a police officer would later say.

Time passed and negotiations stalled.

Thus, with a court order and after analyzing the situation, Eter police forcibly entered the house and detained the man. There were no injuries.

He was transferred to Misericordia, where he remained in police custody. These types of episodes are being repeated more and more frequently in Córdoba, as police authorities quietly admit.
