They presented celebrations for the 471 years of Santiago del Estero

“Value being from Santiago, to enjoy and be protagonists of a month of activities, in a process of collective construction in which culture and tourism are combined.”

The mayor of the Capital, Norma Fuentes, and the undersecretaries of Tourism and Culture of the province, Nelson Bravo and Juan Leguizamón, respectively, officially announced the implementation of a broad artistic and cultural agenda to celebrate the 471st anniversary of the “Mother of Cities” during the next month of July, which will begin with the inauguration of the Craft Fair.

In this sense, the community leader highlighted the work articulated with the Government of the Province “to enhance our capabilities” and “value being from Santiago, to enjoy and be protagonists of a month of activities, in a process of collective construction in which culture and tourism are combined, so that we are more united than ever.

Engineer Fuentes confirmed that the milestones of each anniversary month will continue, such as the Craft Fair, starting on July 5; Santiago Baila, on July 6; the March of the Drums, the March of the Bellows and Ropes, the other columns that join in like that of Eduardo Mizoguchi; in addition to the Urban Theatrical Action, the Vigil, the protocol act on July 25, the “Mother of Cities” Festival and other proposals that will be spread as the days go by.

He indicated that the scheduled programming will be detailed and can be consulted through a QR code. “It is good to see where we are after a process of collective construction; today we Santiago can talk about receptive tourism, in the association of events and sports with tourism it was demonstrated that this strategy was successful in our province and will surely have the same magnitude as always in July,” said the mayor.

For his part, Bravo recalled that when the celebrations began “we were going through complicated times where we Santiago residents demonstrated our character through our institutions, artistic and cultural expressions.”

He indicated: “Surely we will receive with open arms and the cordiality that characterizes us the tourists who visit us, with the permanent support of the provincial and municipal governments; we, the people of Santiago, are also going to be protagonists.”

In turn, Leguizamón stressed that the provincial organizations will monitor all the programming that the Municipality will develop.

He pointed out that this is a new opportunity to celebrate the history of our Santiago people, building a new present and projecting a better future, as a pillar of federalism; also as a cultural identity that it contributes to the Nation and that in July becomes a meeting point for many Argentines, therefore it is a sounding board for our country. It should be noted that the culture of Santiago persists and is projected all the time.”

Likewise, the Secretary of Culture and Tourism of the Municipality, Rodolfo Legname, said that this is a celebration to highlight the transformation of the city that began more than 20 years ago when Governor Gerardo Zamora was mayor.

The secretary of the municipal government, Néstor Machado, and the undersecretary of the area, Diego Brunet, also participated during the presentation, along with the director of Culture, Francisco Avendaño.
