The Private Competitiveness Council (CPC) and the Universidad del Rosario presented for the eleventh consecutive time the results of its Departmental Competitiveness Index (IDC) for the 32 departments of the country and the city of Bogotá.

In this opportunity Nariño It occupied the 21st position in the measurement, with a score of 4.57 out of 10, placing itself ahead of the departments of Caquetá, Córdoba and Sucre.

One of the most important results of the measurement is the progress recorded in most departments in their competitive performance. Proof of this is that 32 of the 33 territories evaluated presented an increase in their general score compared to the results observed in the 2019 measurement.

In particular, the department stands out for occupying the eleventh position in the basic and secondary education pillar. Additionally, it is the pillar in which it reaches its highest score with 7.31 out of 10).

In terms of basic and secondary education, Nariño presents outstanding performance in the indicators of teachers from official schools with postgraduate degrees and student-teacher ratio, where it additionally occupies the number 1 position at the national level.

Improvement opportunities?

On the pillar of innovation Nariño registers a score of 1.22 out of 10. It presents important challenges in the variables of high quality research, investment in ACTI, patents, utility models and industrial designs, in which it obtains very low scores.
