Values, solidarity and sport go hand in hand in La Rioja this weekend thanks to the 2nd edition of the UAR-Gladiator Race solidarity obstacle course, on the Paseo del Espolón and in the facilities of the Forces Experience Polygon … Logroño Specials. The new edition will bring with it new obstacles, a greater number of participants and more solidarity.
The entire proceeds from the event will be allocated to the AECC charity causes, the construction of a UAR-La Rioja classroom for teaching in Chad, with the help of the Ramón Grosso Foundation, Cáritas, the Red Cross and the Spanish Federation of Food Banks (Fesbal), with which the Civil Guard collaborates.
And everyone who brings food to deliver to the La Rioja Food Bank will participate in a raffle throughout the competition.
A ‘Mini Kids’ obstacle course is planned for today for boys and girls between 3 and 8 years old in the Plaza del Espolón, whose registration is open on the official Gladiator Official website, gladiatorraceoficial.es
For this Saturday and Sunday, the event will take place at the Special Forces Experience Polygon (PEFE) of the Civil Guard located in Logroño. Registration has already closed upon reaching 2,600 participants, who will be joined by the organization with 800 more people, divided into three tests, depending on the category of the participant.
Tomorrow, at 10:00 am, the UAR- Gladiator Race ‘Warrior’ category begins, with a long route of 11 kilometers and 40 obstacles and a limit of 800 participants. And in the afternoon, at 4:30 p.m., the UAR-Gladiator Race ‘Rocket’ category, with a short course of 7 kilometers and 35 obstacles, and an established limit of 1,200 runners.
End of party on Sunday
For Sunday (10:00 am) there is the UAR-Gladiator Race ‘Kids’ category, with a participation limit of 300 boys and girls, accompanied by their father, mother or guardian, one modality for 3 to 6 years and another from 7 to 12 years, with distances of 500 meters and 1 kilometer respectively.
For Sunday, the UAR has organized an exhibition of the various means with which the Civil Guard operates as well as an operational demonstration of the Rural Action Unit.
The Gladiator-Race, more than just a sporting event
In addition to the sporting event, the Gladiator-Race involves the entire city, including posters promoting the activity. Laurel Street collaborates with the solidarity pincho, offering part of the profits and decorating the street with flags from the different organizers and collaborators. In addition, the Special Forces Experience Park includes during the weekend an exhibition of vehicles and material of the capabilities of the Civil Guard and the UAR, as well as games for children and solidarity activities.
