Havana, June 20 (ACN) A new homologation process for motor vehicles, trailers and semi-trailers, assembled by parts and pieces, will be developed throughout the country starting next Monday, directors of the Ministry of Transportation reported today in the capital ( MITRANS).

After the issuance this Thursday in the Official Gazette number 55 of Resolution 95 of 2024, by the head of the organization and on the procedure to follow, details of its implementation were offered at a press conference when 72 hours after it was published it came into force, the June 24, to extend until August 22.

Mario Pérez Ventura, specialist from the Directorate of Automotive Transport, recalled that in 2021 there was a first homologation process, in which of a figure of more than 125 thousand pieces of equipment assembled by parts and pieces, presented for legalization, 103 thousand were approved by complying with technical regulations and consequently registered in the Vehicle Registration Offices.

The new procedure, updated and with greater organization, in a first stage will include a census aimed at collecting and processing all the information of the interested parties and their vehicles, and in a second, 15 days later starting on September 8, it will take place the technical review.

Precisely on his Facebook account, Eduardo Rodríguez Dávila, Minister of Transportation, highlighted that the census, through the website designed for this purpose, will begin next Monday, June 24 at 8:00 a.m. and will last for a period of 60 hours. days, until August 22.

In this regard, Leosbel Castro Portuondo, director of the Sitrans IT Unit, explained that this page can be accessed through the address https//:vap.transnet.cu, and through it the applicant will register with their number identification card, volume and folio, telephone numbers and a photo of the vehicle.

On this digital site, the specialist explained, more details about the approval will be offered, there will be a question and answer section, guidance and upon completing all the necessary data, the person will be given the file number that will accompany them throughout the process. .

Once the census period has expired, the website will not receive new registrations and will only be open for consultations on the procedures to be carried out, stressed Osvaldo Reyes Alonso, general director of Automotive Transport.

He pointed out that those who, for various reasons, did not have their application approved the previous time can request legalization, and clarified that only the presentation of a motor vehicle with its trailer or semi-trailer, if possessed, is allowed.

The manager reported that the provincial commissions created for this purpose will organize the technical review process in the municipalities, where according to their location of residence, each registered person will be called to appear with the equipment in good technical condition at the indicated place, date and time. .

In order to contribute to ensuring that the vehicle assembled by pieces and parts is in good technical condition for this test, the Automotive Technical Inspection Company is able to offer the diagnostic service to interested parties through its plants in the territories.

According to Alexander Pérez Pérez, director of the entity, they will be in coordination with the Young Computer and Electronics Clubs or through the aforementioned website to receive applications.
