The National University of Salta will present the title of Doctor Honoris Causa to Eugenio Zaffaroni, former judge of the Supreme Court of the Nation.

Upon request of Rodrigo Sola, director of the specialty and master’s degree in human rights, the Superior Council of the National University of Salta approved the delivery of the title of Doctor Honoris Causa to Eugenio Raúl Zaffaroni.

From the House of Higher Studies they stressed that the recognition is for his important professional career and his international prestige in the world of law.

The title delivery will take place this Friday, June 28. After the event, Zaffaroni will give the Master Lecture “The Current Challenges of Criminal Law.”

The meeting will begin at 6 p.m., at the G-400 Amphitheater, located at the Headquarters (Av. Bolivia 5150).

Eugenio Zafarroni

Eugenio Raúl Zaffaroni is an Argentine criminal lawyer, judge, jurist, notary and criminologist. In the doctrinal area he stood out for his contributions to the theory of crime from the finalist conception.

Between 2003 and 2014 he was a member of the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation. From 2016 until January 2022 she served as a member of the Inter-American Court of Human Rights.

He has received the title of honorary doctor from more than 30 Latin American and European universities. He is considered one of the most renowned jurists in Latin America and Europe. He is noted for his productions in criminal law, crime theory, criminal procedural law, criminology and human rights.
