“We have been denouncing the serious security crisis in Santa Marta. Today there is a knock on our door. My father, a community leader who has worked tirelessly for the community, has been threatened with death. This is an attack on all of us who fight for justice and peace,” Rebolledo expressed in his publication.
The son of the community leader highlighted the critical security situation facing the city. Rebolledo also demanded protection for his father and for all the social and community leaders of Santa Marta.
“I demand that the authorities protect my father and all social and community leaders. It is time for the authorities to assume their responsibility and guarantee security in our city. No more indifference and complicity in the face of violence,” added Rebolledo.
In response to the complaint, former governor Carlos Caicedo spoke out through the social network expressing his solidarity.
“We categorically reject the threats against members of our movement @fzciudadana, who carry out a laudable job of surveillance and control of the Mayor’s Office of Santa Marta.”
However, the Seguimiento.co journalistic team contacted the local authorities and the Santa Marta Metropolitan Police to verify the veracity of the pamphlet that accompanied the complaint. The authorities responded that said pamphlet was false.
