Workers reported having seen Loan Peña, the child who has been intensely searched in Corrientes for more than a week, at a grill in Entre Ríos. Hours later it was confirmed that this hypothesis was no longer valid.

From the restaurant, the accused man tried to talk to the grill man who made the complaint to show him photos of the minor he was with the previous night and thus confirm that it was not Loan. “We live 40 kilometers from Ibicuy, Entre Ríos. We were coming from Rosario and we stopped to eat here with a couple of friends and his son Eliseo, whom they confused,” he said in television statements. Eliseo is 6 years old.

“We came from Rosario, from Father Ignacio, and we came just to have dinner because it was already late. We found out today – on Thursday – about the complaint and we contacted the highway police to remove that doubt, so that they see that it is us and the investigation does not go the other way, “he said.

“Thousands of people pass here, thousands of children, and at night, already tired and eager to collaborate with the investigation, they saw and thought they could help,” he explained.

“When we found out about the complaint, we quickly called the Caminera Police to remove their doubt and to see that it was us and that the investigation did not focus on anything else,” he said.

In this sense, the man stated that he does not want the investigation to be diverted and time wasted, while considering that “the idea of collaborating with the cause made them wrong.”

They have already raked more than 12 thousand hectares
The search for Loan Danilo Peña, 5 years old, continued uninterruptedly in the Corrientes town of 9 de Julio, where more than 12 thousand hectares have already been raked.

The procedures were carried out by the Corrientes Police and the different forces, whose current work focuses on reviewing all the water bodies, lagoons and abandoned wells.

Rakes are also carried out in the thick of the dense mountains, while the Public Prosecutor’s Office (MPF) advanced with other work on the investigative side.

Since becoming aware of the minor’s disappearance, institutional superiority, through directives issued by the Ministry of Security, deployed an extensive search and rescue operation in the vast area.

The activities are supervised by the Minister of Security of Corrientes, Duarte Buenaventura; the Undersecretary of Security Osvaldo de los Santos García; and the Chief of Police, Commissioner General Alberto Arnaldo Molina, which are deployed in the jurisdiction of Regional Unit II of Goya.

In this regard, more than 600 police officers specialized in different topics are mobilized, who work in an articulated and uninterrupted manner both day and night.

To date, they have covered an area of more than 12 thousand hectares, with 250 vehicles, in addition to cavalry personnel, motorized vehicles, as well as trucks, unmanned aircraft (drones), helicopters, and others.

In that sense, technical personnel “combed” the mountains and grasslands, while the Police divers carried out extensive work when entering the extensive lagoons that proliferate in the geography, specialized in rescuing people.

It is also important to highlight the collaboration of Civil Defense, Public Health, Volunteer Firefighters, as well as the troops of other forces who add their efforts in the field work.

The lawyer for two of the detainees maintained that “there was no pact of silence” and confirmed that Loan “was kidnapped.”
Jorge Monti, defender of the detained couple, confirmed that Mónica Millapi will be the only one who will testify this Friday in the Hearing Room of the UFIC in Goya.

“There was no pact of silence, far from it. There were procedural events during these days. The prosecution is far away, in Goya, and that is why the testimonies were delayed,” he highlighted.

Regarding why he resigned from the defense of Antonio Benítez, the little boy’s uncle, he explained that it was due to an economic issue.

Finally, he insisted again that Loan was kidnapped: “He was not lost. When he told his mother that they couldn’t find him, his first reaction was ‘they took him.’”
