The lifeless body of Madianis del Carmen Silva Polo, 30 years old, was found in the town of Majayura, municipality of Maicao, in the department of La Guajira.
Silva Polo had been reported missing by her relatives a little over two weeks ago.
The discovery was made by passersby who were passing through a desolate area and immediately notified the local police. Agents of the National Police, together with the Criminalistics Unit, went to the scene to inspect and remove the body, which showed signs of torture and whose hands were tied.
Madianis del Carmen Silva Polo, originally from Aracataca, Magdalena, was officially identified by the authorities. After the required procedures, her body was transferred to the local morgue and later claimed by her relatives, who were in charge of taking it to her place of origin to bury her.
The National Army has intensified security efforts in the region to support investigations and guarantee tranquility in the area. The National Police continues with the investigations to clarify the facts surrounding this incident.
