The government of the province of Río Negro is actively working against the heavy snowfalls that affect the region. Given this scenario, Civil Protection reiterated that today the yellow alert is in effect for snowfall and strong winds. Likewise, National Roads continues to work on the prevention of provincial roads and Governor Alberto Weretilneck gave details of the distribution of free bottles of the Calor Gas Plan.

“Our team at the Ministry of Energy is working to assist 3,000 families from different neighborhoods of Bariloche with the distribution of free bottles of the Calor Gas Plan. Working to accompany the neighbors so that they can face these very low temperatures,” the president explained. .

From the Civil Protection Secretariat of Río Negro they reiterated the yellow alert for snowfall and strong winds, with conditions that include snow accumulations of 20 to 40 centimeters in mountain areas and northeasterly winds with gusts of up to 90 km/h. The situation has generated significant impacts in several locations, as detailed below:

-Mamuel Choique: Little snow, intermittent sun.

-Mencué: 10 cm of accumulated snow, strong and cold wind.

-White Lagoon: Little accumulation, still snowing.

-Corralito/Paso Flores: 20-30 cm of snow, impassable road, no light.

-Pilcaniyeu del Limay: Little snow, it has been possible to load jugs.

-Jacobacci: Accumulation of 30 cm of snow, more expected.

-Little River: 20 cm of snow towards Chacay Huarruca.

-Ñorquinco: 8 cm of snow.

-Dina Huapi: 4 cm of snow, no complications.

-Anecón: 12 cm of snow and white wind.

-Valcheta: Rain, melted snow, rollover without injuries.

-Colan: Snowing with wind and cold.

Regarding road conditions, extreme caution is recommended due to climatic adversities. The main national and provincial routes have specific restrictions and recommendations for heavy vehicles and pavement and gravel conditions.

The traffic on the Provincial Route No. 79, between Colonia Switzerland and Casa de Piedra stream, has been interrupted due to a landslide. Vialidad Rionegrina has already evaluated the situation and is actively working on removing the rocks to restore traffic as soon as possible.

In parallel, ice and snow clearing operations continue to be carried out on the provincial routes of the Cordilleran Region, distributing salt and sand with the snow plow truck.
