The sales of the thousand largest companies in the country had an increase of 7.9 percent during 2023, according to the report presented this Friday by the Superintendence of Companies (Supersociedades), which means an increase lower than inflation, that is say, lower profits of the group of companies in real terms.

Based on that report, EL TIEMPO presents here the ranks corresponding to the largest companies in terms of sales, profits, size, profitability as well as increases or falls in sales.
The report has part of the financial information as of December 31, 2023 and, as explained by the Supersociedades, it allows identifying trends in the state of the financial situation with respect to assets, liabilities, equity, statement of comprehensive income and financial ratios.
According to the superintendency, “in this report The behavior of the profits item at the end of 2023 stands outas profits are presented in all macro sectors, just like what was warned for the years 2022 and 2021.”
According to the entity, 64 percent of the losses are concentrated in the macro-sector servicesaccumulated mainly in the health and telecommunications subsectors.
On the other hand, the report says, the mining and hydrocarbons macrosector “was affected by the decrease in the price of a barrel of oil, which was 17 percent than the average recorded in 2022, as well as due to the effect of the revaluation, which caused a decrease in their income and assets due to the effect of the recognition of the difference due to conversion,” said the Superintendent of Companies, Billy Escobar Pérez.
