The District Mayor’s Office marked the 2024 sea festivals with ‘El Origen’ to highlight the identity of Santa Marta as a Tourist, Cultural and Historical District of Colombia
“’El Origen’ is the official brand of the Sea Festival 2024, which will be celebrated from July 25 to 29 in Santa Marta. With this brand, we plan to revive fundamental moments in the construction of the cultural and community identity of the most beautiful bay in America, paying tribute to our roots.” expressed the document
With ‘The Origin’, we seek to recover the Samarian identity, highlighting the complete name of the city.
Currently, the National Captain, Daniela Restrepo, is the host of this party that unites us with our hearts. Laura Angulo, District Captain 2023, has been officially named Miss Santa Marta to represent us in the National Captain event, whose coronation will take place on July 28. The identity of Santa Marta must be the Sea Festival, beach games and nautical games. These 499 years must be the springboard so that the 500 years are celebrated as the city deserves, not only on July 29 of each year.
The official launch of these parties will be on Wednesday, June 26 at 7:00 pm at Cumbia House.
This launch will be attended by Mayor Carlos Pinedo Cuello; the Samarian singer-songwriter Carlos Vives; the Secretary of District Culture, Darío Linero; the National Captain of the Sea and Miss Santa Marta to the 2024 National Captaincy competition.
There will be five days of events, with more than 300 thousand people. There will be 12 sports disciplines in the beach sports competitions, with 2,000 participating athletes. For the first time, 300 musicians playing drums will delight the public in the largest Symphonic Parade in the world, accompanied by 500 women to the rhythm of the Gaira paloteo dance.
For three days, there will be discussion about The Origin of the Sea Festival in the academic space “History Forum, tribute to Pepe Alzamora.”
The Fiesta del Mar 2024 promises to be an unforgettable celebration, full of activities that will highlight the best of culture, sports and local talent.
