In the last few hours, the Criminal Economic and Anti-Corruption Control Court of the city of Córdoba sentenced Deputy Commissioner Fernando Damián Córdoba to three years of effective imprisonment and disqualification from holding public office for the same period.
The Judiciary indicated that everything was resolved in an abbreviated trial. It was indicated that the accused, who served as head of the judicial automobile depot, was declared criminally responsible for the crimes of abuse of authority and aggravated theft for being a member of the security forces.
Judge Gustavo Enrique Hidalgo pointed out in the sentence that the accused stole a Ford Ecosport vehicle in the exercise of his public function as a police officer, in charge of the Judicial Depot of Sequestered Vehicles No. 2 located in Potrero del Estado (town of Bouwer).
The magistrate maintained that officer Córdoba used his function to illegitimately seize an element that was his responsibility to protect.
During the hearing, in which the 1st Nomination Economic Criminal Prosecutor prosecuted, the accused freely and voluntarily acknowledged his participation and responsibility in the event in question.
In this way, he assumed that, first, together with other identified police officers, who also provided services at the judicial warehouse, they devised a plan to illegitimately steal a car that was seized there, due to a case of gender violence.
By preparing a false document and recording apocryphal data and signatures in the guard book and in the delivery report, Córdoba managed to seize the vehicle, along with another police employee. Then, they took it from the property and took it to the home of a third police officer, to whom they sold it, according to Justice.
The commissioner did not execute the laws whose compliance was incumbent upon him due to his function “since he did not guarantee the protection of the property that he was responsible for monitoring.”
According to the judge, the evidence gathered in the case was overwhelming. The detailed analysis of the impact and geolocation of the telephone line antenna used by the cash was highlighted.
The magistrate assessed unfavorably for the accused that he had been assigned to the specific function in the automobile depot, after the initiation of another investigation against several police officers for theft of auto parts in said establishment.
In the same resolution, and considering the time he had been deprived of liberty, Judge Hidalgo granted him a release from prison.
