(ADN).- The legislator of the CC ARI-Cambiemos bloc, Fernando Frugoni, asked the Patagonian Parliament to express itself and request the National Executive Branch and the YPF authorities, that the gas pipeline that will supply the liquefaction plant in the future of natural gas and immediately to a gasifier ship, be laid towards the port of Punta Colorada, in Sierra Grande.

At the same time, it urges the governors of the provinces that make up the Patagonian Region to issue a joint document requesting the National Government that the projected gas complex to liquefy the natural gas extracted from the Vaca Muerta field be developed in the same port area.

“As a representative of the Rio Negro people, and especially of the Atlantic region, through this project I seek the statement and support of all the Patagonian provinces so that the liquefaction plant that YPF plans to build is located in Punta Colorada, Sierra Grande” Frugoni highlights.

In the initiative, the legislator highlights the growing importance that Vaca Muerta and the Neuquén Basin have had in the gas production of our country, with the contribution of shale gas and tight gas. “Vaca Muerta is the second largest unconventional gas resource in the world and positions Argentina only behind China, according to data from the US Energy Information Administration (EIA),” he details in the fundamentals.

Frugoni expressed his concern regarding the possibility of the LNG plant being installed in the Province of Buenos Aires: «It cannot be that what we extract from Vaca Muerta, whose basin we share Neuquén, Río Negro, La Pampa and Mendoza, is captured by the concentrated petrochemical power of Bahía Blanca to add value and reap the greatest benefits. We Patagonians deserve, as owners of the resource, to begin to take center stage and – in this case – become, together with Neuquén, the provinces that provide oil and gas to the world.

Likewise, he was enthusiastic about the latest statements by the president of YPF. «From the information that has been published, Horacio Marín makes it clear that he is very interested in the gas pipeline being laid towards Punta Colorada, in parallel with the oil pipeline. Until the plant is built, it will be connected to a 300-meter-long gasifier ship. “These two pipelines, during construction and in operation as well, will mean many jobs for the inhabitants of Sierra Grande, a city for which we must make every effort to return the flourishing economy that it had in the years of splendor of Hipasam.”

Finally, he stressed that “our region must deepen its productive matrix, based on gas and oil, and stop being just extractive provinces so that concentrated powers can do their business by adding value to our natural resources.”

In parallel, Frugoni has been proposing that the province adhere to the Base Law, which creates the Large Investment Incentive Regime (RIGI) “and then extend the tax benefits to all companies and SMEs in Río Negro that provide or render services to companies that are established in our territory, such as liquefaction or Green Hydrogen plants.
