We approach a Saint who was close to the charisma of the Salesians. It was his total support and spiritual help. And it is that Today, the 12th Sunday of Ordinary Time, we celebrate Saint Joseph Cafasso. Catellnuovo of Don Bosco, would see this Saint born in 1811 who, at the age of sixteen, was already preparing for the priesthood. Such was his maturity in Faith and in life that at a very young age he felt the call of Providence to the priestly vocation.
Once ordained a priest, he encountered the impact that Jansenism had on the church, denying man the possibility of cooperating with Divine Grace. The doctrine was spread in the 17th century by the Bishop of the Netherlands Cornelius Jansenius. This problem together with the interference of the rulers in ecclesiastical affairs, committing true corruption, It made the functioning of the Ecclesial Community difficult, as provided by Providence.
Faced with this situation, he settled in the “Convitto” San Francisco de Asís in Turin., looking for a internal training so as not to fall into the same mistakes than other Christians, dragged by circumstances.
