Mayor of Curumaní, Cesar, receives recognition as ‘Solidarity and Inclusive Mayor of Colombia’

In a special ceremony held at the Movich Buró hotel in the city of Bogotá, the Mayor of Curumaní, Hermes Martínez Úrsula, received new recognition for his management and leadership from the Foundation for the Development of Solidarity and Social Inclusion, INCLUSOCIAL . This time, he was awarded the “Solidarity and Inclusive Mayor of Colombia 2024” award in the category: Best program to rescue ancestral customs and values ​​of the Afro-descendant community.

This recognition was given thanks to the development of the ‘Curumanao Ancestral’ social program that aims to rescue ancestral customs linked to crafts and handmade work, inherited from our ancestors, in the rural area of ​​Curumaní, through artisans victims of the armed conflict and Afro-descendant communities.

«We recognize the work of the Mayor of Curumaní through this special program with rural communities. This award is deserved, for the social talent of said program that seeks to rescue traditions while helping these people and their families get ahead,” said the President of INCLUSOCIAL, Jorge Escalante Miranda.

For his part, Mayor Hermes Martínez, visibly moved, expressed his gratitude for the recognition: “This is a program that we have built with great love for our communities in rural areas. The recognition goes to those talented and resilient men and women who preserve our roots and show everyone what our territory has to offer the world,” he said.

«Curumanao Ancestral» has been present at different fairs and cultural events in the region. Thanks to this initiative, artisans have been able to market their crafts at a local, regional and national level, making it possible to publicize the traditions of the municipality.
