Every Sunday in June, at 4 p.m., the Sarmiento Historical Museum and the Dante Alighieri Association of Buenos Aires will present a series dedicated to exhibiting iconic films of Italian cinema. Admission is free, without prior registration, until the room’s capacity is exhausted. Italy has a rich cinematographic tradition that began at the dawn of the 20th century and reached maturity in the post-war period, in the middle of that century, with the emergence of the neorealist movement and the appearance of directors of the stature of Rossellini, De Sica, Visconti, Pasolini and many more. In our June film series, whose start coincides with the celebration of a new anniversary of the Italian Republic, we will enjoy iconic films from that movement and other masterpieces from the splendor of Italian cinema.
On Sunday, June 23, 2024, the following will be screened: Women’s perfume (Profumo di donna). Technical sheet: Dir: Dino Risi / Origin: Italy / Year: 1974 / Duration: 103 min. Synopsis: A young Navy cadet has been entrusted with the task of serving as a companion to an irascible blind captain during a weekend trip between Turin and Naples. From the captain, a drinking and womanizing man (Vittorio Gassman), the boy (Alessandro Momo) will receive certain lessons that he will not be able to forget.
