The governor of Chubut, Ignacio “Nacho” Torres, gave his full support to the World Boxing Council super featherweight world champion, Soledad “Itaka” Matthysse, to defend her title in the city of Trelew.

Confirmation of the province’s support to organize such a significant fight occurred recently when the governor approached the Chubut Deportes headquarters to greet the new world champion, who was holding a meeting with the president of the provincial body, Milton Reyes.

“It was a pleasant surprise and we are very grateful to Governor Ignacio Torres for going out of his schedule to take a few minutes and come greet us. And also for giving us their full support for the possibility of fighting in Trelew. It is a very significant gesture that I value very much,” stressed Matthysse.

The “Itaka” also appreciated the possibility of Trelew becoming the stage to make her first defense of her world title, also highlighting the reception given this Tuesday with her husband and coach, Mario Narváes, and her mother Doris. Steinbach.

“As always happens when we come, Milton Reyes welcomes us very well, with proposals. “It is a dream for me to fight before my people, who always ask me when I am going to fight in the city,” he said, after once again highlighting the governor’s support.

Big moment

The world champion also spoke of “the great moment” she is going through in her sporting career. “The truth is that I fulfilled my dream of fighting in the United States and I am very happy to get the world title that we achieved together with Mario. Now many doors are opening for more international fights, so we are already working towards that goal.”

In addition, he said he felt “very good, with a great desire to continue improving myself and working with my team, to be able to get to Las Vegas to fight something important. “I feel full, in good health and that is a very positive thing.”

Finally, the world champion said: “Mario means everything in my sporting career and I always thank him, because if I didn’t have him in my corner, to guide me in all my fights and in the gym, I don’t think I would have achieved everything.” The truth is that it is very important in that sense.”
